Laser Skin Resurfacing

Laser Skin Resurfacing is a skincare procedure performed by a physician to improve skin appearance and texture. RenovoMD utilizes CO2 laser resurfacing treatments to remove scars, fine lines or wrinkles, sun damage, warts, birthmarks and improve complexion/skin tones. We are constantly offering the latest laser aesthetic technology such as Fraxel® Skin Resurfacing, the AcuPulse™ CO2 Laser System and our PiQo4 pigmentation laser to produce exceptional results for many different types of skincare needs.

What is Laser Skin Resurfacing?

Laser Skin Resurfacing is also known as a laser peel, laser vaporization and lasabrasion. It uses microscopic laser columns that can penetrate deep into your skin to increase your body’s collagen and stimulates the growth of new healthy skin cells from the inside out. Because these precise lasers treat only a fraction of the tissue at a time, it leaves the surrounding tissue intact. This promotes rapid healing and minimal downtime. Because newer laser technologies give physicians a higher level of control in laser surfacing, this allows extreme precision and can be used in even delicate areas.

*Darker skin tones are more challenging to treat, but a skin care consultation with Dr Casello is important to determine if you are a candidate for this procedure. The PiQo4 laser is a great alternative for darker skin types and pigmentations. It is also used for tattoo removal.

What is the downtime associated with this procedure?

The treatment can vary in terms of aggressiveness depending on the condition of the skin treated. For more aggressive treatments, downtime can last up to 7-10 days. After that, the skin will appear red and irritated, similar to a sunburn. During recovery, the skin will reveal sloughing and/or crusting, and patients are advised carefully on an at-home skincare regimen while skin is healing.

How many treatments are necessary?

Again, depending on the severity of the skin condition being treated, some patients need multiple treatments. Typically, a patient will notice about a 25% to 50% improvement per treatment, but comprehensive consultation with Dr. Casello will help estimate the number of treatments necessary.
